Government spending review

This week the Chancellor, George Osbourne, outlined the implications for housing from the Government's spending review.  These are:

- the Government are to invest more than £3 billion into affordable housing.  However he provided few details on this.

- housing benefit will be included in the overall benefit cap

- a new rent formula will see landlords able to increase rents by consumer price index inflation plus 1% for a period of 10 years to provide landlords with greater certainty over their future finances.
