Question time with our MPs

24 Jan 2012

Following our meeting with Mr Paul Uppal MP in October 2011, the Fed were pleased to welcome MPs Ms Emma Reynolds and Mr Pat McFadden to a meeting in December 2011, where members had an opportunity to voice their concerns over issues.

Among matters raised were the introduction of flexible tenancies for new public sector tenants, the proposed reduction in housing benefit for those under pensionable age who underoccupy their homes, and plans to stop direct payments from benefits to landords.

We also stressed the need for new homes to be built in the city and we urged the importance of suppporting existing businesses and encouraging new business and enterprise in the area.
