Flexible tenancies

The Government are proposing, under an amendment to the Housing and Planning Bill 2015, to put an end to lifetime tenancies for local authority tenants in England with new secure tenancies only able to be granted for a fixed period of between two and five years.

We are concerned that this will mean a lack of security for tenants and transient and unstable communities and a lack of community cohesion.  In addition this may lead to management issues and tenants not taking a pride in their homes.  The Government are looking to introduce flexible tenancies by April 2017.
